Kristi Vetri, Attorney at Law:
Areas of Practice
Kristi Vetri, is committed to helping you plan
your future with the confidence and dignity you deserve. For over 20 years, she has been working
with seniors, their families, and those with disabilities to understand and plan for the issues
and problems that may occur. Ms. Vetri counsels and represents her clients on
legal matters that encompass planning for the future, the preservation of assets, and the
protection of peace of mind.
Planning for the future means making decisions about issues which are not
always easy to think about. Taking steps to ease the financial burden on our loved ones should
we ever require long-term care, clarifying our wishes for end-of-life care, and deciding how our
estate should be administered after we die are sometimes difficult, yet important, steps we all
need to take as we get older.
Our services include:
ESTATE PLANNING SERVICES: Kristi Vetri, takes the
time to listen carefully to her clients, to understand their needs and goals, and then work
with them to create a tailored long-term care and estate plan that meets their expectations. She will also coordinate with
accountants, financial planners, and other professionals to see that her clients are provided with
a full range of long-term care and estate planning services, including: Powers of Attorney, Trusts, Living Wills, and real-estate
matters, as well as retirement, tax, and insurance issues.
By focusing her expertise on elder and disability law, Krisit Vetri will make it her mission to see that
clients get the full benefit of the law as it applies to estate planning.
ASSET PROTECTION SERVICES: Nursing home care can cost thousands of dollars a year. Seniors faced with long-tern care for themselves or a spouse watch their life savings simply melts away. But what many people do not know is that there are legal steps they can take to protect most if not all, of their assets from the costs of long-term care. And this is true even if a loved one is already in a nursing home.
An Asset Protection Service includes:
- Development of an Asset Protection Plan, designed to protect the maximum amount of your
assets, as allowed by law, from the costs of long-term care
- Preparation of any legal documents such as Wills, Powers of Attorney, Deeds, or Trusts, necessary
to carry out the Asset Protection Plan
- Where appropriate, preparing and filing the Medicaid application, including all required
documentation, and standing by our clients until their eligibility for Medicaid is approved
- Guidance on the potential need for and appropriateness of long-term care insurance
- A close partnership with our clients to ensure that their Asset Protection Plan is successfully
implemented.
SPECIAL NEEDS TRUSTS: Clients with disabilities or a special needs child may have a need for specialized legal
services. For example, a special needs trust can help to ensure that future financial resources required
to meet their special needs will be available, without the threat of losing eligibility for public benefits
such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid.
The SSI and Medicaid laws and regulations are complex and constantly changing. Without the help of a
qualified attorney with a thorough knowledge of public benefits law, clients with disabilities may see
money received, for example from an inheritance or personal injury settlement, quickly disappear to cover
their ongoing medical expenses. With a special needs trust, clients can maintain their eligibility for
public benefits to cover their basic needs of food, shelter, and medical care, while funds in the trust
can make a significant difference in the clients quality of life by providing for their special needs
not covered by government benefits.
Special needs trusts are also valuable for clients who want to make provisions in their estate plans
for children or grandchildren with disabilities. By directing bequests for disabled beneficiaries
directly into a special needs trust, clients can provide funds to enhance the quality of life for such
beneficiaries without disrupting their eligibility.
ESTATE ADMINISTRATION: When a loved one
passes away, often the last thing on the familys mind is the administrative work of
managing the loved one's estate. The Law Office of Kristi Vetri acts as a partner to families at such
a time. Krisit will see to it that all of the legal requirements are met and that the estate is administered
smoothly with a minimal burden to the family and other loved ones. We work closely with the personal
representative under the Will or trustee of a Trust to make certain that the wishes of the deceased
loved one, as expressed in the estate planning document, are carried out.
